"Five O'Clock Shadows" is the first OxRock short directed by USC Grad, Orion Breen. The Story: Today is Archie's last day after over thrity years at the same job nine to five, five days a week. His Boss throws a "party" for Archie consisting of an uninspired speech and a generic store bought cake. In the snack room, two of Archie's younger coworkers, Ted and Cudlow, joke about Archie's retirement and how they are never going to become as pathetic and useless as he. Ted moves into Archie's old desk as Archie is moving out, and Archie is made to feel like he has no advice to give, for no one these days seem like they would make the same mistakes he did, that of putting work before all else. Sitting in his car alone in the parking lot, Archie confronts his past and must decide what, if anything, there is left to do with his life. Who is Orion Breen, anyway? Orion's parents moved to Saint Albans, Maine as part of the back-to-the-land movement of the late '60s and proceeded to raise a family. He was born at home into his father's arms and carried out under the night sky to behold the universe for the first time (in this form), hence his name. He soon learned to walk and talk, but not when to shut up. When no one would listen he began writing and directing his friends and siblings, in an attempt to express his vision of the world and appease his desire for power and control. His already inflated ego proved truly astronomical when he was accepted to the number one film school in the world, USC. There he was insufferable and insatiable in his quest to learn about every aspect of film production, and completed numerous pompous student films. Upon graduation he recieved a kick in the teeth with the discovery of how little a film degree means. With his new found humility, Orion soon got jobs with independent filmmaker Joel Silverman and producer Jeff Dowd of "The Big Lebowski" fame. Becoming weary of Hollywood networking and traffic jams, Orion moved to Vancouver, Canada and finally home to Maine in order to persue artistic fulfillment as a writer and teach underprivileged youth. There he wrote numerous songs and screenplays including the feature film "Strange Elation," slated for principal photography to begin within the next two years in Boston where Orion currently abides. It is here in this beautiful metropolis that Orion was ushered into the fold of OxRock Productions under the patronage of creative genius Arnon Shorr and set to direct the short film "Five O'Clock Shadows" about a man in the autumn of his years reviewing his life thus far and trying to decide where to go from here.
